| Apanas Lake itself is a Ramsar protected area that is internationally recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In addition to the lake, there are endless possibilities for exploring the surrounding area. Northern Nicaragua offers at least 20 Natural Reserves and 13 Private Reserves with amazing natural features, numerous ecosystems and thousands of varieties of flora and fauna to be discovered. |
